A CIRENCESTER personal trainer helped a wheelchair bound bride walk down the aisle unaided after transforming her into a bodybuilder.

Joe Binley, who is based in Cirencester, was called on to help 28-year-old Lisa Bradley fight off a rare spinal condition that prevented her from walking.

Lisa, who lives in Cork, required Joe’s help after the cocktail of drugs she was taking daily failed to stop the constant pain she was in.

Speaking to the Standard, Joe said: “Lisa got in touch with me over the internet, through Facebook actually. She’d heard about me as I’m the CEO of quite a well-known bodybuilding brand.

“When I first met her she was carrying quite a lot of excess body fat – the main thing was just to get her healthy.”

Mother-of-three Lisa worked with Joe daily and began by lifting tiny weights but, as her symptoms eased, she was pulling off squats, bench presses and bicep curls.

With Joe’s help, Lisa learned how to walk again and was able to walk down the aisle on her big day last year wearing a dress 10 sizes smaller than her original size.

She said: “It was amazing to be able to walk down the aisle, I nearly ran it. I had no pain whatsoever and felt so confident. My GP is completely amazed and can’t believe the difference in me.

Joe, who is still in touch with Lisa on a daily basis, said the strength she possessed rivalled that of his male clients.

He said: “To be honest, Lisa was up there with the guys that I’ve trained. She was very determined. If anything, I was having to rein her back.”
