A TRANSPORTER carrying massive transformers from Didcot power station to Avonmouth is set to cause delays on the M4 tomorrow.

The load, weighing almost 640 tonnes and measuring nearly 300ft long, sets off from Didcot this evening with an overnight stop at Membury services. The journey was due to take place last weekend but was cancelled.

It leaves Membury at 10am tomorrow and will travel along the M4 at 4mph before turning off at junction 18 in the direction of Cold Ashton and the A420.

Motorists have been advised to expect congestion on the westbound carriageway as the transporter and its load, measuring 16ft wide, will take up two lanes.
