Public "No Crash" meeting in Andoversford tells residents about plans to tackle excessive road speed on A436 between Air Balloon Pub and Bourton-on-the-Water
A PUBLIC meeting in Andoversford last week gave residents the chance to find out what is being done to tackle excessive speed in the local area.
It was organised by the North Cotswolds Rural Area against Speeding Harm (NoCrash) which aims to tackle speed on the A436 between the Air Balloon pub and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Following a survey conducted by the police on almost 250,000 cars during October and November of last year, it was found that nearly half of all vehicles had broken the speed limit on the road, with the highest speed recorded at 136mph.
This month’s meeting heard that measures, including a new safety zone around Andoversford Primary School and a speedwatch group at Shipton, had been introduced and a new survey of traffic speed would be carried out.
Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, who spearheads the NoCrash group, said: “I stressed at the meeting that this was a long-term campaign and in response, people told us that they wanted us to continue what we’ve been doing on their behalf.”
