Abbeymead woman targeted in mobile phone scam

POLICE are warning the public to beware of a mobile phone scam after fraudsters targeted a woman in Abbeymead.
Criminals ordered an iPhone 5 from a website using the victim's name and address.
When it arrived a woman rang the victim to arrange to pick it up and send it back to the company by courier.
It is believed this woman was one of the fraudsters.
In similar cases the criminals have arranged for a courier to pick up phones and then deliver them to other addresses.
It is only when the victim is contacted or billed by the phone company that they discover they have been duped.
Anyone who believes they may have been targeted in this way should ring 101.
