MALMESBURY is preparing to welcome home soldiers from 9 Regt Royal Logistic Corps next week.
The Cross Hayes will once again be turned into a huge parade ground for the event first held three years ago when the freedom of the town was bestowed on the regiment.
On October 31, as well as campaign medals handed to the soldiers, who have returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan, special medals will be given out to their children who lived with the knowledge that their parents were far away working in a war zone.
Town centre roads including Abbey Row, part of Bristol Street, The Market Cross, Oxford Street and the upper High Street, will be closed between 9am and 1.30pm.
Following a parade in the Cross Hayes starting at 11am, troops will march to the abbey for a service. A reception in the town hall will follow.
