PCSO stops man in Cricklade and discovers he is wanted for multi-million pound fraud
A POLICE Community Support Officer stopped a man in Cricklade Street, Swindon and discovered he was wanted for multi-million pound fraud
PCSO Kuy Harrison was working on previous intelligence and approached the man after spotting him and his car.
After taking his details, PCSO Harrison ran these through the Police National Database only to discover that there was a European Arrest Warrant out for the man in connection with a €4.7m tax evasion.
Afran Khan, 36, of Ferndale Road, Swindon, was then arrested by another officer and has been sent to London to be deported.
PCSO Harrison said: “This goes to show that no matter how far you try and run, the law will eventually catch up with you.
“It appears that this man had been in the UK for some time having fled Germany.
“This is a great example of partnership working and goes to show that the European Arrest Warrant system clearly works well. After stopping the man, we were able to find out relatively quickly that he was wanted in connection with a multi-million pound tax evasion case back in Germany.
“It was certainly one of my more interesting jobs.”
The arrest warrant for My Kahn was issued on September 4th 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany.
