A SWINDON bar has lost its licence after staff served alcohol to children as young as 15.
Longs Bar on Victoria Road has been caught by Wiltshire Police serving underage test volunteers three times since October last year.
A Swindon Borough Council licensing panel today revoked the premises licence. Licence holder Arkells Brewery has 21 days to appeal.
Police licensing officer Sian Kalynka said: “We take any breaches of the law seriously and on four occasions test volunteers, who are all under 18, have been served alcohol in Longs Bar.
“This is despite us issuing warnings and holding several meetings with the bar management and license holder.
“Due to these repeated failures and breaches in the licensing objective to protect children from harm, Wiltshire Police was left with no other option other than to ask the Licensing Committee to suspend or revoke the licence.”
“I hope this serves as a warning to other licensed premises that Wiltshire Police will robustly monitor all venues which serve alcohol and make sure they are operating in a safe and legal manner.”
