Multiple crashes close M4 for 11 hours. Three seriously injured.

THE M4 in Wiltshire is due to be reopened shortly, eleven hours after a series of crashes left three people seriously injured.
Police were first called to a collision between a car transporter, a car and a van on the M4 between junctions 15 and 14 shortly before 00.18am this morning.
It resulted in further crashes and the closure of the motorway in both directions 20 minutes later.
One woman receiving life threatening injuries. Two of the injured were airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and one was taken by ambulance to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
A man was arrested on suspicion of causing a serious injury by dangerous driving and is in custody.
One lane on the eastbound carriageway is now re-opened and, it is hoped, that all lanes on both carriageways will be fully re-opened within the hour.
The crashes resulted in long tailbacks on the motorway and on the A419.
