Celebration for NCS graduates at Cirencester College
1:17pm Monday 14th October 2013 in News
CIRENCESTER College students welcomed back 46 students and their families to celebrate completion of their National Citizen Service (NCS).
The students had enjoyed several weeks of summer of fun, adventure and fundraising at the College, including a residential camp out, mountain biking, hikes, raft building and sailing.
And the students also lent their support to the local community when they gave their time to raise awareness and funds for local charities The Independence Trust and Prospect Hospice.
Over 1500 hours were spent by the young people raising awareness of the charities they had chosen to support. The teams have now raised in excess of £2000 for the charities with money still coming in.
The evening of celebration was hosted by NCS leader Karen Bunting. She said: “It was brilliant to see all the students come back to pick up their certificates. The NCS has been a fantastic opportunity for them to develop as young adults, it was great to see the teams developing and being really productive within their own communities.
“It was clear that the students were delighted to be reunited and had formed a strong bond as a team.”
