BARTON Street police are tackling nuisance cyclists and motorists in the area.
At the end of September officers worked with civil enforcement officers from Gloucester City Council to run an operation during which illegal and obstructive parking was targeted along with cyclists who rode on the pavements.
Several people were given fixed penalty notices and spoken to on the day and the clampdown is continuing, with street stencils being set down on the pavements in Barton Street to warn cyclists to avoid riding there.
PC Nicholas Crocombe said: "We are continuing to address local concerns and warn people to expect fixed penalty notices. In the case of riding on a pavement that's a fine of £50.
"These are issued in the interests of pedestrian safety - in particular the young, elderly and infirm - who are unable to move quickly out of the way of cyclists using the pavement illegally."
