POLICE are hunting for a man who made off with nearly £150 of fuel from a garage in Brierley in the Forest of Dean.
The man pulled up at the forecourt in a silver Vauxhall Vectraat around 4.15pm on Saturday, September 28 before filling a number of fuel cans with diesel.
When the cashier became suspicious he approached the man, described as white, in his late 20s, 6ft tall, of medium build and wearing a light grey baseball cap and light grey jumper, and found that he had filled his boot with plastic containers of fuel from the pump.
He claimed he was finished and walked towards the shop to pay, only to pretend he had forgotten his wallet and return to the car. Seconds later he had sped away without handing over a penny for nearly 100 litres of fuel.
Officers believe the man is responsible for other fuel thefts in the Forest and neighbouring force areas and are urging anyone with information to come forward on 101, quoting incident 381 of September 28.
