FIRE crews were called to a car fire between junctions nine and ten of the M5 in Gloucestershire earlier today.

Appliances from Cheltenham West and Cheltenham East, along with eight retained firefighters from Tewkesbury, were called to the incident at around 12.45pm.

Upon arrival the Cheltenham crew were able to confirm that all occupants were out of the vehicle and were not injured in the fire.

Speaking from the scene, the officer in charge of the crew confirmed the vehicle to be severely damaged as a result of the fire and used two hose-reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

Crews remained on scene for a further 10 minutes.
