DETECTIVES investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Cheltenham are asking the public for information about a vehicle and three people seen changing their clothes near by.
Police were called to the Alma Road shop at around 3pm yesterday Wednesday, September 25 to reports that two men wearing black balaclavas had entered the convenience store and asked the member of staff to hand over money.
The men then left the shop on foot, along Alma Road and onto Windermere Road.
Due to the route it’s believed the offenders took officers believe they may be local to the area and evidence so far suggests those involved were white and in their late teens.
Detectives are particularly eager to hear from anyone who saw three men that were witnessed changing their clothing in alleyways between Buttermere Close, Windermere Road, Ennerdale Road, Denbigh Road and Caernarvon Road at around 3pm.
They would also like to speak to anyone with information about a vehicle, a light colour people carrier possibly a Renault Meganne Scenic or Citroen Picasso, seen in Ennerdale around the time of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Richard Peglar said: “Although we have made an arrest our investigation is still very much ongoing and we still need the public to come forward with any information they may have that could help us with our enquiries.
“It’s thought that one of the offenders may have been carrying a firearm and we are investigating as to whether this weapon was real or an imitation.
"Either way this was a distressing incident for the staff in the shop and we are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“We do need the public’s help to solve this crime and I would urge anyone who has information about those involved, the men seen changing their clothes, or the light coloured vehicle, to call us.”
