Elderly man from Longford airlifted to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol following three vehicle crash

AN ELDERLY man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital following a three vehicle crash in Longford yesterday.
The crash happened at around 3.45pm on the A40 between Longford and Over, close to the Longford roundabout.
All three emergency services attended the collision, which involved a silver Honda Jazz, black Ford Focus and green Ford Focus.
The driver of the Honda Jazz, a 76-year-old local man, was initially treated at the scene before being flown by air ambulance to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with life threatening injuries.
These injuries were later reassessed and described as serious.
The other drivers suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed for four hours while a full investigation took place and the vehicles were recovered.
