Two boys from Hannington and Kempsford kayaked 52 miles down the River Thames in Lechlade to raise money for CALM
TWO best friends jumped straight in the deep end for charity by kayaking 52 miles during their school summer holidays.
Benjamin Fuller from Hannington and Thomas Green from Kempsford took on an incredible challenge by kayaking 52 miles down the River Thames with the aim to raise £5,000 for local charity, CALM (Cancer and Leukaemia Movement) which supports young people with cancer in the Cirencester, Cricklade and Swindon areas.
Kayaking for 17 hours each day the boys were amazed at the support and generosity they received along the way.
They completed their challenge despite a couple of struggles along the way and raised an impressive £3,133.
“It was especially hard paddling against the wind," Benjamin, 10, said. "There were many long, straight stretches where we had to do this. What kept us going was the thought of finishing and the amazing support team, cheering at the pubs and locks. Thank you to everybody who has sponsored us.”
The boys target was £5,000 and they still hope to reach this total. Sponsor them at justgiving.com/cc4c
