Police are appealing for information regarding the theft of a quad bike from a farm in Twyning near Tewkesbury.

The red Honda quad bike (pictured), which is valued at more than £2000, was stolen from a shed on the farm at Hillend between Sunday September 8 and yesterday, Tuesday September 10.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area, or has been offered a quad bike matching this description for sale.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Gloucestershire Police on 101 quoting incident number 103 of September 10.

Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org and you may receive a reward if someone is arrested and charged.

In December 2011 Gloucestershire Constabulary launch Operation Ape, an initiative that was put in place to tackle quad bike and tractor thefts in the county. As a result of the operation so far a number of quad bikes have been recovered and returned to their rightful owners and arrests have been made.

Harm Reduction Advisor for Gloucestershire Police, Kim Mowday, said: “Quad bikes can be a valuable commodity for thieves and it’s therefore very important that owners make sure that they are secured properly.

“A number of different products are available to secure quad bikes, including a drive on clamp ramp and various padlocks and chains. Tracking devices can also be fitted to bikes at the time of purchase or in retrospect and is something we do advise owners to consider.

“All of these methods should also be used in addition to simple crime prevention methods such as making sure the ignition key is removed and ensuring that the garage or shed it’s in is kept locked.”
