ANTI-SOCIAL motorcylists were targeted in an operation run by Hucclecote officers last week.

The local policing team covering Hucclecote, Abbeymead, Coopers Edge, Abbeydale and Upton St Leonards were on the lookout for any bad behaviour by bikers.

The operation was in response to reports from the community of youngsters on scrambler bikes performing wheelies and speeding around the Clock Tower flats.

During the week, officers issued three section 59 warnings to teenagers riding off road bikes.

In one case, a boy was doing wheelies, in another a boy was riding along a public alleyway and in another a rider was making excessive noise.

It means if any of the riders are caught again their bikes will be confiscated and possibly crushed.

In another incident, officers who found a motorbike blocking a pavement discovered the owner smoking cannabis in a nearby garage with a friend. Both the 17-year-olds were given a caution.

The local policing team is hoping the operation has sent out a strong message but are reassuring the community that it will continue to address the issue.

People in the area are encouraged to report any incidents on 101.
