ACTION to ensure the safety of badger cull protesters and those carrying out the cull will be in full swing tonight.
Gloucestershire Police has confirmed Operation Themis will "reach its full capacity at 8pm this evening".
The Government's badger cull will commence at some point in the next week in Gloucestershire, a week after it started in Somerset.
Operation Themis is aimed at keeping all communities feeling safe, dealing with any incidents of crime and public disorder and making it easy for people to protest.
The police's role will to be operationally independent, impartial, even-handed and fair to everyone whatever their views, interest or involvement in the pilot scheme.
