Players from Cirencester Rugby Club strip off for novelty fundraising calendar
WHAT do some of Cirencester’s toughest rugby players and members of the Woman’s Institute have in common? They both got their kit off for charity.
In similar style to the hit film Calendar Girls, players from Cirencester Rugby Club will be stripping off to raise money for the team’s clubhouse.
Mandy Fisher, social secretary at Cirencester Rugby Club, said: “I first mentioned it to the boys back in January and every one of them has been really up for it.
“Even the president of the rugby club, who’s in his 70s, took part in the calendar shoot.”
The slightly risqué calendar will give rugby fans the chance to see players as they’ve never seen them before.
Mandy said: “There is some nudity in the photos but they’ve been shot in a very tasteful way.
“All the photos have been shot in black and white with only little hints of red in them.
“From what I’ve seen so far, they look really good. It brought a smile to my face,” she said.
So far, only 50 calendars have been printed but, if they prove to be successful, more will be ordered from the printers.
The calendars were on sale during last weekend’s Cirencester Beer Festival, which was also being held at the rugby club.
