Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a brutal attack by a group of youths on two men in Swindon
Approximately 11 youths assaulted and robbed a 48 year old man as he walked in the car park of Asda Walmart, Orbital Shopping Centre on Monday July 29at 10.30pm.
A second victim, a 25 year old man, who came to the victim's aide was also assaulted and had demands made for his property.
The first victim was making his way to his car, which was parked to the side of Asda Walmart store closest to the George clothing entrance, when he was first approached by a single teenager.
This teenager is described as being white and aged approximately 15-18 years old, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall and of a slim build.
The youth punched the victim before he was then set upon by other members of the group who violently assaulted him.
The victim required hospital treatment due to the extent of his injuries.
Following the attack, the victim realised his mobile phone and personal items were missing from his trouser pockets.
The second victim had witnessed the assault and rushed over to help the injured man.
He was then assaulted and threatened by other members of the group. He received medical treatment at the scene for his injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Due to the prompt investigation by police officers and the assistance provided by employees at the Asda store, 11 arrests have been made so far in connection with this incident.
All of those arrested are local youths aged between 15-20 years old. They are all currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
Although this is being treated as an isolated incident, Asda have increased their security in and around the store and the local neighbourhood policing team have increased high visibility patrols in the area.
