Rendcomb College, near Cirencester, celebrates as A-level results show it's been another successful year
CHAMPAGNE corks will be flying after 65 per cent of students from Rendcomb College near Cirencester gaining a B grade or higher in their A-levels.
Lance Baynham, 18, who was head boy at the college, will begin studying at Oxford in September after getting three A grades in Maths, English and History.
He said: “It hasn’t really sunk in yet. I always knew that I could achieve the grades and I just made sure that I didn’t do anything to spoil it.
“I did have to put a fair bit of work in to make sure that I achieved my full potential.”
Other success stories at the college include 18-year-old Will Scott who achieved an A in Maths and a B in Further Maths and Physics.
He said: “As soon as I found out, I was ecstatic. I phoned all my family straight away.
“I didn’t quite have the grades I was hoping for but it didn’t really matter in the end because I got into the university I wanted.”
He will start studying mechanical engineering at Southampton University next month.
Roland Martin, headmaster at Rendcomb College, said: “We have been very fortunate in the last few years to have some notable stories to tell about individual achievements.
“Rendcomb’s strength is to produce well-rounded young people who are prepared for the future.”
