THERE was an emotional end to a fund-raising campaign in Tetbury at the weekend when the Adam Philby Skatepark was officially opened.
Malc and Lizzie Philby launched the campaign following the death of their son Adam in a car accident in 2009.
Adam (pictured) was a keen skater and friends and family turned up to help Malc and Lizzie launch the facility, as part of the Tetbury Show.
"We started this appeal with great emotion because we had lost our son but little did we know how much he meant to the town," Lizzie added. "Adam would have been totally overwhelmed to think this project was because of him. He would have been so proud of what we and his friends have achieved."
Malc paid tribute to the amount of local support they had received. The £90,000 skatepark was built thanks to the huge amount of local fund-raising as well as lottery funding and grants from Tetbury Lions, Tetbury Town Council and Cotswold District Council.
