THE company responsible for environmental services throughout the Cotswolds has had a successful first year, making savings of £1 million.
Ubico Ltd came into operation in April 2012 to provide Cotswold District Council with a range of services including recycling, street cleaning and ground maintenance.
The company was brought in to make substantial savings while still delivering an effecting service.
Rob Bell, managing director of Ubico, said: “We’re very pleased with how the first year of our operating has gone.
“Not only have we made significantly more savings than targeted, we’ve also tried to improve the service, perhaps the most notable achievement being the introduction of kerbside plastic recycling in the Cotswold district.”
Cllr Lynden Stowe, leader of CDC, said that the council’s £365,000 underspend for 2012-13 was largely down to Ubico.
He said: “I have thanked Rob Bell personally and have asked him to extend my gratitude to all his staff who have worked so hard to make this possible.”
