A TEAM from the headquarters of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK are gearing up for this weekend’s Cirencester Race for Life.

Together with some of their friends and family, there will be a total of 12 of them taking part in the 5km run at Cirencester Park on Sunday.

And the seven women from the headquarters at Watermoor, Cirencester, say they have been tickled pink by the generosity of their colleagues.

The team effort has been organised by Verity May, PA to the the Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, Lance Bradley. She said the group had initially hoped to raise £200 but had already reached an impressive £710.

Verity, who will be taking part in her third Race for Life, said: ‘Everyone has their own personal reasons for wanting to take part and it’s a very worthwhile cause. Taking part as a team is much better than doing it individually – we’ve all been supporting each other and encouraging each other. Now we’re all really looking forward to it, even though it’s going to be very hot!

"Everybody at work has been really generous and it’s incredible how much we’ve raised. A lot of people think you have to run it but you can walk it if you like and next year we are going to get even more people involved."

The staff from the Cirencester headquarters taking part along with Verity are: product secretary Amanda Thompson; payroll advisor Sarah Wiltshire; general manager (service) Sharon Townsend; assistant company secretary Joanne Clarke; aftersales secretary Marie Cansdale and receptionist Justine Hitchman.

They will be putting their best foot forward along with five of their friends and family.

Race for Life is the UK's largest women-only fundraising event series where all the money raised goes to fund Cancer Research UK's life-saving work.

Organisers are hoping 2,000 women of all ages and abilities will join together to walk, jog or run the 5km on Sunday.
