A LEADING mobile games company has officially received The Queen's Award for Enterprise after excelling in business and innovation.

The presentation to Ciren-based NeonPlay marked a trio of successes for the company which was also celebrating both news that it had achieved 50million downloads and its third birthday The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are awarded for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of innovation, international trade and sustainable development.

In 2012 eight Queen's Awards were distributed in Gloucestershire and this year a total of six have been awarded so far. Releasing 60 games since its launch in June 2010, 15 of which have had over 1m downloads, Neon Play chief executive Oli Christie was proud to receive the prestigious award from Gloucestershire's Lord Lieutenant Dame Janet Trott.

She said how delighted she was that Gloucestershire had punched above its weight for recipients of the Queen's award and described the county as a hotbed of innovation and creativity. ]

Mr Christie said it was incredible to see so many people turning up to celebrate with him as he hosted a party dedicated to the company's three pieces of excellent news.

Based in Cirencester, Neon Play is made up of 20 different artists, programmers and analysts yet its games are downloaded across 155 countries.

In the past the business has joined forces with companies, Twix, Lego and Mercedes as well as celebrities Al Murray, Dom Joly and comedy duo Armstrong and Miller.
