RESIDENTS in Tetbury and the surrounding area are being invited to have their say on plans that will shape the area for the next 20 years.

The newly formed Tetbury and District Neighbourhood Planning Group is holding a public consultation at the Dolphins Hall on New Church Street from midday until 8pm on Tuesday, July 2.

The group, a partnership of members of Tetbury and Tetbury Upton Parish Councils along with resident’s associations, schools, businesses and residents, is working to ensure the future prosperity and sustainability of the area.

One of the organisation’s priorities is to identify places where development can take place in the parishes and members of the group will be on hand at the consultation to hear resident’s views.

Cotswold District Council’s head of development services Philippa Lowe will also be on hand from 12.30pm until 2pm while representatives from the Malmesbury Neighbourhood Steering Group – which has been operating for around a year – will be there from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.

The group’s chairman and mayor of Tetbury Cllr Liz Farnham said everyone was welcome to attend Tuesday’s event.

"The group has only been in existence for four months and we are just embarking on a long process, but early community engagement is vital in helping us identify broad issues that matter to the people and business in Tetbury and Tetbury Upton," she said.

Free transport to the event will be available from Tetbury Dial-A-Ride volunteers for anyone unable to get there themselves.
