CONTROVERSIAL plans for a £500m waste incinerator in Gloucestershire are to go to planning appeal.
Although Gloucestershire County Council voted unanimously to throw out the plans for the massive plant at Javelin Park near Stroud in March, applicants Urbaser Balfour Beatty has since announced it intends to appeal the decision.
The council received 4,000 letters of objection to the plans citing issues such as the size of the complex, its cost and the potential impact on the environment of the area and health of nearby residents.
Only two letters were received supporting the plans.
No date has yet been set for the planning appeal.
