A YOUTH is wanted by police after homophobic comments were said by the man in an incident on board a train at Kemble.
The train manager for the 8pm service from Swindon to Cheltenham on March 2 was met by abuse when he found a group of three youths without tickets.
PC Frank Hedley from the British Transport Police said: “Two of the youths bought tickets but while the third attempted to pay using a card, it jammed in the ticket machine.
“The train manager asked the youth to write his details on a seat reservation card so that he could be contacted by the train company to recover the fare at a later date.
“However, the youth wrote a homophobic comment directed towards the train manager on the card before all three youths got off the train at Kemble station.”
CCTV footage has been released of a man which police believe will have information which can assist the investigation.
PC Hedley added: “Abuse of any nature, including homophobic, towards members of rail staff is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by BTP.
“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the youth involved.”
If you have any information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the man in the footage contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting incident number B7/WWA of April 17.
