Appeal for witnesses to M4 crash

AN APPEAL has been made for anyone who witnessed a fatal collision on the M4 near Newport early this morning.

A 67-year-old Cardiff man was killed in the crash on the eastbound carriageway at the entrance of the Brynglas tunnels at around 3am.

The man was driving a dark grey Peugeot 308 saloon which collided with a wall and an electrical sub-station.

Although he was recovered from his vehicle he was pronounced dead at the scene.

CCTV shows a number of drivers stopping at the side of the car immediately after the crash and officers from Gwent police are keen to talk to anyone who witnessed the collision.
