Woman driving a blue Daihatsu Sirion+ dies after crash near the junction of St Swithuns Road and Rea Lane, Hempsted near Gloucester

A WOMAN has died following a car crash near Gloucester this morning.

The 65-year-old woman died after the blue Daihatsu Sirion+ she was driving crashed into a tree near the junction of St Swithuns Road and Rea Lane, Hempsted, at around 9.40am.

An off duty paramedic and members of the public performed first aid on the woman, who was from the local area, before the fire and ambulance services arrived.

She was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital but later died.

The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle being driven prior to the collision or the collision itself to call 101, quoting incident 122 of March 13.
