Campervans cruising to Malmesbury for festival

CAMPERVANS and VWs from all around the country are rocking up at Charlton Park this weekend for a fundraising festival.

The third Dubaid show will see v-dubbers showing off their prized vans, Beetles and other iconic models against a background of live music and entertainment to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

The programme features club displays on Saturday and a “show and shine” on Sunday.

It is the second Dubaid hosted by the estate just outside Malmesbury. Last year it raised around £9,000 for the RNLI.

The idea for the event was prompted by a discussion on a VW fans’ online forum and resulted in a weekend of camping, music and displays at Castle Combe to raise cash for Help for Heroes.

“It’s fantastic to see ordinary members of the Volkswagen community giving up a huge amount of time to put something back and help other people,” said Chris Redford, one of the organisers. “They do not take a single penny in wages, as soon as the costs of the event are covered, all profit goes to the charities.”

Tickets are available online at dubaid.co.uk and on the gate costing £5 for the day or £25 for the weekend.
