A CIRENCESTER man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 45-year-old man from Watermoor.

Just yards from a primary school, the body of a man was carried from his home at Stepstairs Court in Watermoor to a private ambulance.

The 45-year-old, who was reported to have suffered from drug and alcohol addiction, was treated for injuries to his groin in the early hours of this morning.

His health deteriorated and he died at around 1.15am.

Neighbours watched on in shock as the man was carried in a body bag from his home at around 11am today, following forensic investigations.

Police officers are still at the scene and police tape and cones remain in place at the Bromford flats.

A neighbour said he came back to his flat from a night out in Cirencester to see around six police cars, ambulances and what he believed were armed police surrounding the building.

“There were police cars everywhere,” he said. “We asked the police what was going on but they wouldn’t tell us anything.”

A 42-year old man from Cirencester has been arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.
