A CIRENCESTER based car business is coming to the rescue for emergency organisations across the country.

Mitsubishi Motors, which has its UK headquarters in Cirencester has recently rolled out nearly 30 new vehicles for the Ministry of Defence.

The car firm has been a regular supplier to the MoD for eight years, but the order for 22 Shoguns and six Outlander Commercials was the first in two years.

The vehicles have been purpose-built at the Mitsubishi Specialist Vehicle Operations (MSVO) at Love Lane Industrial Estate and adapted to include gun boxes and dog carrying equipment.

The MSVO is now preparing to roll out 138 specialist L200s and Outlanders for the Environment Agency, 38 Outlander and L200s for the National Grid and three L200 Warriors with off-road tyres for a new customer, the Food and Environment Research Agency.

Lance Bradley, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors UK, said: "We are enormously proud of the bespoke vehicles we produce at MSVO, and of the clients we have managed to keep on the road, or indeed dirt track or forest path, for almost a decade now.

"We aim to keep on producing these unique, specialist project vehicles for many years to come."
