Fairford police have beat it

BOBBIES on the beat have reportedly gone missing from the streets of Fairford.

Concerns have been raised by several residents over the lack of police presence in the town.

This month Fairford Town Council has written to Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner Martin Surl to ask why regular surgeries have not been held at the designated police point in Fairford Community Centre since before Christmas.

Fairford mayor Rob Winney said: "People say they don’t see the police around anymore and haven’t for a considerable time.

"At Lechlade they’ve got a police point and often advertise their surgeries, but nothing like that happens here.

"There’s been a few houses broken into recently. We feel like we’ve been left out on a limb."

The matter is now being investigated by the commissioner.
