New town councillor elected in Moreton-in-Marsh

A NEW town councillor has been elected for Moreton-in-Marsh.

Retired district councillor Avril Smith-Maxwell was elected by a margin of 40 votes.

Around 570 people voted in the election yesterday, which was a 19.1 per cent turnout for the town.

Ms Smith-Maxwell won with 271 votes, Thomas Lewis came in a close second with 231 votes and Daniel Warmington received 62 votes.

The election follows the resignation of Josie Lane-Burford last year.
