ONE man is being airlifted to hospital after a crash on the A419 this afternoon.

Two Peugeots, one black and the other red, were involved in the crash by the entrance to 29 Regiment just before 1.30pm this afternoon.

A passenger in the black Peugeot, who is thought to be a soldier stationed at the base, has been injured and is awaiting the arrival of Great Western Air Ambulance.

The other two people in the black car, also believed to be soldiers, are thought to be unhurt while the driver of the red Peugeot – a man from Fairford – is also said to be uninjured.

The road is closed in both directions and severe tailbacks are being caused.

Drivers are advised to find an alternative route.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 232 of February 20.
