A SECOND Malmesbury store has been raided by cigarette thieves in the space of a month.

A gang forced open a window at the Co-operative in Gloucester Road early today(THUR) and snatched thousands of pounds worth of tobacco from the kiosk.

The 2.30am burglary follows a raid on Abbey News in the town centre on January 28.

Sgt Martin Alvis from Malmesbury Police said: “We are reviewing the CCTV and keeping an open mind as to whether the two are connected.

He added officers were liaising with Gloucestershire Police who are investigating similar recent incidents including one at Tetbury Tesco filling station on January 8.
