Councillors to vote on Chipping Camden solar farm extension

A HUGE extension to a solar farm near Chipping Camden will go ahead if approved by councillors this week.

The 20 acre extension to the Northwick Estate site could generate power for more than 600 local houses.

However, objections have been raised by the Cotswolds Conservation Board, which claim it could have a negative impact on the "scenic beauty and landscape of the Cotswolds."

The current proposal is intended as an extension of over 10,000 panels to the solar farm that already exists at the site.

CDC planning officers are backing the scheme saying it will be hidden by existing woodland and will provide much-needed renewable energy.
