Mud shuts Malmesbury reserve footpath

A POPULAR Malmesbury footpath has been closed temporarily after six months of constant wet weather turned it into a quagmire.

The middle path through the Conygre Mead nature reserve has become virtually impassable.

Chairman of the River Valleys Trust, Frances Goldstone, said: “The riverside path and the top path will remain open and we really hope that our visitors will respect the temporary closure.”

The trust hopes the closure will allow the path to recover without the need for major repairs.
