A FLOODED subway caused students and adults to take risks crossing a busy road in Cirencester this week.

The subway leading under the A429 between the Waitrose and Stroud Road roundabout was flooded on Monday due to the recent snow and rainfall.

The closure came just three weeks after Cirencester woman Susan MacKenzie, 59, was knocked down and killed by a car on the same stretch of dual carriageway as she attempted to cross the road.

Gloucestershire Highways pumped the water out of the subway, which was clear by Tuesday morning.

Neglected from the story is the fact that Deer Park teachers were on hand very quickly directing the kids down to the footbridge making sure they crossed safely
