Dedicated duo are NHS heroes
2:00pm Monday 28th January 2013 in News By Laura Shack
A DEDICATED duo from Cirencester have been nominated as "heroes" for the support they provide to people with mental health conditions.
Jane Vickers and Gill Yardley who both work for the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust were thrilled to be put forward for the new NHS Hero Award by members of the public.
A patient with a personality disorder nominated Jane, a community mental health nurse, for her "selfless concern".
"I had given up on life and was spiralling downwards," the patient said. "Jane helped me with skills so I can deal with life’s challenges. She would rather be helping people than taking a holiday."
Clinical pyschologist Gill was also praised for going the extra mile in her work.
"Gill has always treated me with dignity and respect and has always gone out of her way to address my needs," a patient said.
2gether’s chief executive Shaun Clee said the compliments given to Jane and Gill were highly warranted.
"They are prime examples of the wonderful staff we have working for 2gether," he said. "I congratulate them on their recognition, which is richly deserved."
