Kemble and Ewen Parish Council have voted to increase their precept

RESIDENTS in Kemble are set to see a slight increase in their council tax in the coming financial year.
At a recent meeting of Kemble and Ewen Parish Council members voted to increase their precept for the coming year from £18,000 to £19,970 – an extra £4.30 a year for a Band D property.
Chairman Cllr Roger Pettit said this was the first increase the council had made to its precept for a number of years and that they would not continue to increase it.
“On a basic principle we want to stay where we are,” he said. “However, we have had exceptional costs this year due to external factors.”
He added the increase would mean the council was eligible for additional financial assistance from Cotswold District Council.
“It could well be that next year we may find ourselves in a position to reverse it and I think we should have the ambition to do it,” he added.
