SNOW: Freezing weather expected to create treacherous road conditions
5:17pm Friday 18th January 2013 in News
PEOPLE in the Cotswolds have been urged to stay off the roads where possible as freezing weather is expected to cause widespread ice tonight and tomorrow.
Freezing temperatures coupled with possible further snow flurries, mean roads and pavements could be hazardous.
With the weather expected to remain below freezing for some time, people are being urged to continue keeping an eye on vulnerable neighbours and friends to check they are alright.
Wiltshire Council and Gloucestershire County Council will continue to salt the primary routes and teams will carry on monitoring the situation .
Pedestrians and motorists are urged to take care if they decide to travel.
In Wiltshire, streetscene teams have been clearing some footways and town and parish councils have activated their local snow plans using salt and equipment provided by the council.
There is disruption to many services and more details can be found on the front page of Wiltshire Council's website - www.wiltshire.gov.uk.
Wiltshire Council’s twitter account @wiltshirewinter will be giving up-to-date information on the conditions and affected areas.
The work is being coordinated by the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) which prepares for, responds to and helps with the recovery from local major incidents and emergencies.
