Residents warned to keep valuables secure following thefts in The Green, Cirencester

RESIDENTS are being warned to make sure their valuables are kept secure after two houses on The Green, Cirencester, were broken into on January 12.

The front door of a house was forced open in the afternoon or evening and an iPod was stolen from the kitchen Drawers were also emptied in the bedrooms and jewellery was taken, including two gold rings, one with a small diamond and another with a small green stone.

In another incident around the same time, which police are treating as linked, another house on the same street was broken into after a conservatory window was forced open.

Drawers were also emptied in the bedrooms but it is not known if anything was stolen.

Gloucestershire police Sergeant Garret Gloyn said thieves were operating across the Cotswolds and warned residents to take steps to protect their property.

“Make sure you’ve got the details of expensive items such as bikes and do what you can to secure them,” he said.
