Co-op wading through flood issues at football ground

THE Co-operative is investigating flooding issues at the Flying Monk football ground in Malmesbury where it wants to extend its store.
The ground, which is home to the Malmesbury Vics, the Athelstan Players and the town’s boxing club, at the centre of discussions between the chain and the town council, which owns the land.
A spokesman for the firm said it was concentrating making sure it could come up with a solution before taking its proposals much further.
Sid Jevons, of Malmesbury and the Villages Community Area Partnership, which is representing the three clubs, told the neighbourhood plan steering group that if the conditions were right, all three clubs were in favour of moving to a site further up the hill identified by housing developer Persimmon.
