Power fault blacks out 10,000 in Wilts and Glos

A HUGE swathe of Wiltshire and part of Gloucestershire was blacked out for around 15 minutes this morning.
Southern Electric is investigating the cause of a fault in an extra high voltage line which led to 10,000 homes, businesses and public services as far apart as Melksham and Tetbury losing power shortly before 9am.
A spokeswoman for the energy distributor said a safety trip activated after detecting the fault and shut the supply down.
