Oaksey man in court charged with downloading 1,500 child abuse videos and pictures

A DISABLED Oaksey man will face trial after pleading not guilty to charges of possessing indecent images of children.

David Galey is accused of downloading more than 1,500 indecent images and videos of children from the internet.

The 53-year-old, who is confined to a wheelchair, pleaded not guilty to five charges of making and one of possessing the material when he appeared at Swindon crown court this week.

It is alleged that Mr Galey had 1,179 pictures and 462 video clips on his computers and other storage media which had been downloaded between June 2007 and January last year.

The court heard that Mr Galey, of Bendy Bow, Oaksey, suffered a stroke five years ago, affecting his mind and body.

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to a trial date to be fixed and released him on conditional bail until then. Conditions included having no contact with a child under the age of 18.
