CRIME has fallen by more than a quarter in Bourton-on-the-Water over the last six months, according to the latest police figures.
The number of offences committed between April and November has fallen from 68 to 49 when compared to the same time last year – a drop of 27 per cent.
Burglaries in non-dwellings have fallen from nine to five with only one house burglary committed since April 1 this year.
Criminal damage has also fallen from ten to nine offences and violent crime is down.
Revealing the news a this month's parish council meeting, Sergeant Martin Jones said it was not just Bourton that had seen a quiet summer.
He said: “It’s all over the Cotswolds. We are still seeing a reduction in crime which is unusual in times of recession. Stow Fair passed without any issues.”
Ward councillor Sheila Jeffrey (Con, Bourton-on-the-Water) said: “I’m reassured. It’s fantastic the figures are like that. I am sure neighbourhood watch people are very vigilant.”
