Man hospitalised with head injuries after crash on Spine Road

A MAN was rushed to hospital with head injuries after a crash on the Spine Road near Cirencester.

Firefighters had to cut a trapped man free from his car following the two-car collision on the B4696 Spine Road at Ashton Keynes at around 3pm today.

The man suffered head injuries in the crash but both driver and passenger doors were pinned shut, meaning that he was unable to get medical attention.

Using specialist cutting equipment, crews from Cirencester station gained access to the vehicle allowing ambulance staff to use a vertical board to transport the male to the waiting ambulance.

Emergency services were on the scene for around 30 minutes.
