Fairford flood alleviation works delayed by bad weather
RESIDENTS of Fairford have been assured that funding is in place for a flood alleviation scheme, but work has been delayed due to poor weather.
At a public meeting chaired by Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton Brown last week, the Environment Agency confirmed funding to complete the work was secure, but that water levels were currently too high to allow the work to start.
The work has already been delayed due to landowner issues and legal arguments.
The EA said flood maps were continually updated and that homeowners in high flood risk areas would find it easier to purchase house insurance once the overall flood alleviation scheme had been completed.
